Baker High School is located in Mobile, Alabama and is part of Mobile County Public School System. It is also the largest high school in Mobile County with over 2,300 students enrolled and the second largest high school in the state of Alabama. The Baker High School Band Program has a long tradition of excellence and rich history. The "Pride of Baker Marching Band" is the most visual ensemble of the Fine Arts Department at BHS. The "Pride of Baker" performs at all varsity football games as well as at least 2 marching band competitions in the fall. The band has consistently received superior ratings and captured many Best In Class and Best Overall awards at these contests. The band has previously participated in other musical events such as Bowl Games of America, Universal Studios Foley Experience, and Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

Other instrumental performance opportunities for students at BHS include Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band. In addition, we also offer a beginner guitar and piano class.  Additional performing arts that operate under the band umbrella include Colorguard, Winterguard, and Dance Team. Individuals in the band compete in local, regional, and state band auditions. All concert ensembles participate in the annual Alabama Music Performance Assessment, and the Wind Ensemble has consistently earned superior ratings at this event. Private instruction is strongly supported and encouraged. These lessons are a major focus of individual development for the students in the Baker High School Band. The ultimate vision for the program is to provide as many educational opportunities through musical skill and artistic excellence. Every decision made from the band office is in service to this skill development philosophy.
