Other instrumental performance opportunities for students at BHS include Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band. In addition, we also offer a beginner guitar and piano class. Additional performing arts that operate under the band umbrella include Colorguard, Winterguard, and Dance Team. Individuals in the band compete in local, regional, and state band auditions. All concert ensembles participate in the annual Alabama Music Performance Assessment, and the Wind Ensemble has consistently earned superior ratings at this event. Private instruction is strongly supported and encouraged. These lessons are a major focus of individual development for the students in the Baker High School Band. The ultimate vision for the program is to provide as many educational opportunities through musical skill and artistic excellence. Every decision made from the band office is in service to this skill development philosophy.
